The Government of Yukon launched the Yukon Sights and Sites Application ("App") in 2017. (Originally called the "Yukon Road Trip App). It provides mobile information on Yukon Points of Interest (POI), like campgrounds, historic sites, rest stops and other attractions, to visitors and residents.
Analysis of the App showed users rarely used the App after it was initially download. As a result, the App is being updated to increase utilization. This will provide better engagement to users on Yukon's sites. Tourism and Culture (T&C) has engaged Driftscape Corp. (Driftscape) as the third-party Software as a Service provider for the App.
The functionality of the current Sights and Sites App will largely remain, with improvements. The App functionality includes:
• it is bilingual (English and French),
• it can be downloaded from Google Play for android devices and the Apple App Store for Apple/iOS devices, and
• Yukon POI information, including but not limited to campgrounds and amenities, cultural and historical sites, and wildlife viewing opportunities.
The App was developed to collect the most minimal amount of personal information (Pl) possible. There is no ability to create an account, limited device and user details are collected and analytics are provided to the Driftscape server at an aggregate level only. See section
2.1.4 for a detailed list of all device and user details that are collected. When a user decides to utilize optional functionality of the App, such as the trip planning feature, the information is stored within the App itself on the user's device. There is no access to this information by Tourism, Historic Sites, and Habitat Programs CMS(Content Management System) registered users (from depts of T&C and ENV) or Driftscape. If the user deletes the App, the information
is permanently deleted.
