The initiative involves the implementation of Dragon Medical One, a cloud-based speech recognition solution developed by Nuance Communications, to support medical professionals in accurately and efficiently documenting clinical encounters. This technology will be used by Medical Consultants who deliver services under the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Act, including physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals involved in occupational health assessments, treatment, and reporting.
The initiative is undertaken to:
1. Enhance clinical efficiency by reducing time spent on manual data entry.
2. Improve documentation quality for workers' compensation cases, which often require detailed and timely reporting.
3. Support compliance with privacy obligations under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) and the Workers' Safety Compensation Act.
4. Ensure secure handling of personal and personal health information (PHI) related to injured workers, including medical assessments, treatment plans, and return-to-work documentation.
