HSS has entered into a contract with Hedgerow Software limited (“Hedgerow”) for the use and
hosting of the Hedgehog Software (“Hedgehog”). This Privacy Impact Assessment (“PIA”) is
being conducted on the Hedgehog Software (“Hedgehog”), as used by the Yukon Government,
Department of Health and Social Services (“HSS”) Environmental Health Services branch. The
Hedgehog system supports public environmental inspections for food establishments, personal
services businesses, recreational facilities and care centres operating within Yukon.
Hedgehog enables HSS employees to manage approval applications for businesses, facilitate
inspection workflows, generate inspection reports, and analyze inspection data. Hedgehog is
deployed as a browser-based web application, stored on the cloud of Hedgerow (MS Azure,
Canada).
It is important to note that environmental inspections conducted by HSS employees and
documented within Hedgehog take place only in public spaces or businesses and not in private
residences.
