Landclearing in the North has historically taken a slash and burn approach. This research investigates the direct economic and GHG release costs of clearing the Boreal Forest by slash and burn and two alternative landclearing techniques. Their consequences on soil development, soil microbiology, and crop yield is investigated and reported.
